An Inverness secondary school will remain closed today (Wednesday) because of a water supply failure.

Culloden Academy sent its 1137 pupils home after morning break on Tuesday when it was discovered the school campus had no running water.

A social media post this morning made it clear the issues had not yet been resolved and that work to restore the water supply was continuing and Highland Council confirmed the closure.

Despite the lack of classes, just as pupils prepare for exams, a statement from the school said schoolwork would be relayed online.

The statement said: “Culloden Academy will remain closed on Wednesday.

“Work to restore water to the premises is on-going and should allow us to re-open on Thursday as normal.

“Heads of department will be posting work and/or revision materials on Google Classroom for senior students in S4, S5 and S6 and students should check these for relevant material.”
