A new delicatessen in the heart of Inverness is set to open 'very soon'.

Merchant's Delicatessen is based on Castle Street, and will be providing a range of artisan food products.

Taking to social media to announce its appearance in the city it posted: "We are looking forward to welcoming you to our “proper” delicatessen; cheeses, charcuterie, smoked fish and lots of artisan food products a delicatessen should have, including a wide range of vegan and gluten free products!

"In the meantime we would like to share the four Merchant’s hampers that can be pre-ordered for Christmas; all showcasing some of the best artisan food products from the Highlands, Scotland and Europe. (For something extra special, a bottle of wine or fizz can be added – prices available on request).

"Limited numbers! So to order, or for more information, please email info@merchantsdelicatessen.co.uk

"This year, we will be offering a collection service, or free delivery within 15 miles of Inverness (a variety of other hampers will be available to purchase in the delicatessen)."

It is believed the shop is being opened by the owners of The Walrus & Corkscrew.

Merchant's Delicatessen has been contacted for comment.
