A Ross-shire man has been banned from the roads after being caught under the influence of drugs.

Gabriel Dornan (20) admitted smoking cannabis before getting behind the wheel on April 15 last year when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Dornan of Kincurdie Drive, Rosemarkie, was stopped by police on Eastfield Way at Inverness Retail Park while driving a black Ford Fiesta.

The court heard he had red watery eyes when spoken to by officers and appeared nervous.

He was found to have 6.3micrograms of delta-nine-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood.

The agreed legal threshold is two micrograms.

He was fined £720 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
