Traders at the Victorian Market in Inverness are preparing to welcome back customers when the building re-opens on Monday as coronavirus restrictions ease.

The building has been closed since March due to the pandemic although the Queensgate Arcade has remained open.

Shoppers will be asked to respect the guidelines being implemented by each business.

Changes include a one-way system in the market hall, with shoppers and visitors being asked to follow the directional signage around the walkways.

The accessible toilet will remain closed and dogs, other than guide/support dogs, will not be allowed into the market for the time being.

Inverness Provost Helen Carmichael is delighted that the Victorian Market is to re-open and urged people to support local businesses.

"We very much look forward to welcoming people again to the city centre safely while adhering to Scottish Government guidelines," she said.

"The economic recovery of our local businesses is vital to the overall economy and wellbeing of Inverness and the Highlands.

"Please take the opportunity to support local businesses who have worked very hard to adapt their shops to make it as safe as possible for customers."

The market opening hours will be Monday to Saturday from 7am-6pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm.
