An Inverness woman saw over £900 worth of charges come off her credit card — yet she had only paid for £69.66 worth of petrol.

Rachael Buckett now has to wait seven days for the transactions to ‘reverse’ after the purchase at Tesco Inshes on Sunday, which saw one transaction appear 13 times.

After seeing the charges come off Rachael was shocked and quickly called Tesco, who informed her it was an issue with her credit card provider.

Rachael said: “We’ve been left in the lurch a bit and I’ve made a complaint with the credit card provider.

“When I phoned them they said it wouldn’t clear for seven days but I don’t want it sitting there. They have managed to reverse two.”

Although the transactions are all appear as ‘pending’ they still eat into the balance on the card and stops her from using it anymore.

Rachael is set to apply for a mortgage this week so she is hesitant about how this will impact it, now that her credit card is almost at its limit.

She said: “We normally only use the credit card to 30 per cent but now it’s nearly maxed out.

“Thankfully we have some financial security, but someone else wouldn’t have this and they would be left stuck.”

The credit card company has been contacted for comment.
