Cheeky girls strip off in Inverness shop window for charity
CHEEKY ladies who stripped naked for a traffic stopping window display in Inverness have raised an estimated £3,000 for charity.
The live window display at charity shop DebRA on Academy Street caused a stir on Sunday as the bold women had the courage to bare all for the cause.
Event organisers had originally hoped up to 100 women would peel off for the sponsored shoot. Although only 10 feisty females shed their clothes on the day, it was deemed a success - and was met by positive comments from passers-by.
Manager of the Inverness DebRA store, Sandra Ross, who came up with the idea for the cheeky fundraiser, was among those who went uncovered.
She said: "I would never ask other people to do something I was not willing to do myself. All the ladies who took part were not nervous, and had great fun and we got lots of positive comments from people. They said it was all for a good cause and only wished they had the guts to do it themselves.
"Money is still coming in but we hope to have raised between £2,000 and £3,000."
She laughed: "We had a charity banner covering our essentials so we were not indecently exposing anything!"
DebRA is a national charity working on behalf of people in the UK with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
EB is a very rare condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful and open wounds.
The cash raised will go towards providing respite care for families affected by the condition in the Highlands.
Sandra said: "Respite is helpful for parents with children who have the condition, especially if they don’t know what the prognosis is, it can be very stressful. If their child is unable to ear or swallow due to the blisters, that can be very stressful also."
She came up with the idea for the naked shoot as she felt it was a good way for women to celebrate their bodies and to reinforce the message that beauty is not skin deep. Those who took part ranged in age from 18 to those in their 50s.
She explained the participants got so into the spirit of the occasion they are already planning on another shoot - this time for a calendar!
