A96 Elgin fatal crash - Scottish Ambulance Service ‘cooperating’ with Police Scotland investigation after man struck by ambulance
The Scottish Ambulance Service is “cooperating with a police investigation” into the death of a man struck by one of its ambulances.
A 40-year-old man died in hospital after being hit by the vehicle, which was responding to an emergency call-out, at around 3.30am on Saturday morning.
The fatal collision happened on the eastern edge of Elgin, on the A96.
Enquiries are ongoing as Police Scotland seek to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
The Scottish Ambulance Service has confirmed it is involved with that investigation.
“We are cooperating with Police Scotland on their investigation,” a spokesperson said. “It is currently looking into the circumstances of the incident.”
Police Scotland’s Road Policing Sergeant Dave Cooper said: “We have been carrying out extensive enquiries in the area.
“However, I’m keen to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or saw the ambulance or pedestrian before the collision.
“Motorists with dashcams who were travelling on the A96 between 3.00am and 3.30am are asked to review their footage and bring anything of importance to our attention.”
