Inverness dancer JD Morrison hopes to secure a place on hit new series Now That's Entertainment on Amazon Prime
A restaurant worker is hoping to make it onto a hit new talent show.
The producers of Now That's Entertainment show, due to be screened on Amazon Prime later this year, has selected Hilton man John David Morrison to appear in the line up – as long as he can gain enough support.
34-year-old Mr Morrison, who started winning competitions when he was still at school, hopes to gain the support of the many people who have seen him perform – as well as those who want to see a Scot in the final line up.
He said: "I have been back in Inverness working at the Inshes Gate Brewer's Fayre off and on for the last four years, and for me this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
"I have worked all over Europe as an entertainer. I started in Disneyland Paris where I often dressed up as Goofy, Captain Hook, Balu from The Jungle Book and as Woody.
"I really enjoyed by time in Disney, but as other opportunities presented themselves I have worked in entertainment in Mallorca, Gran Canarias, Lanzarote and in Ibiza."
While many of the jobs were only on six-month contracts, Mr Morrison said that being a hotel entertainer was a dream come true.
He continued: "I keep coming home to Inverness, but I always get the itch to go away again."
Mr Morrison's earliest brush with fame was on holidays with his family. he said: "When I was growing up my mum couldn't afford expensive holidays so she would take us to places like Haven or Butlins.
"My mum always encouraged me to take part in the talents contests and I won a fair few in my time.
"I once won the opportunity to go to Preston for the overall champion of the year. I danced to The Fast Food Song, it was a bit of cheezy pop, and I sadly didn't win the overall prize. But it did get me into dancing and taking part."
Saying his influences for his dance routines are acts such as Girls Allowed, Little Mix, Britney and Kylie, he said he believed the opportunity to appear on Now That's Entertainment would mean everything to him.
Mr Morrison said: "During lockdown I started doing TikTok with my dances.
"I was getting more than 400 views, which I was delighted with. It gave me the confidence to put my name forward for Now That's Entertainment.
"I actually forgot about applying, and it wasn't until I was looking for something in my junk email folder that I noticed I had been successful."
