Inverness joiner ‘very upset’ over Black Isle accident that caused injury
A mysterious loss of control by a self-employed joiner in his car caused him to repeatedly overcorrect and crash into an oncoming car on the opposite carriageway.
The collision happened on the A832 at Foxglove near the Tore roundabout on March 3 last year as 54-year-old Robert Anderson of Island Bank Road, Inverness was driving towards the city.
Two women in the other vehicle were injured, suffering a minor fracture, cuts, bruises and a concussion. They told police that Anderson's car started behaving erratically before crossing into their path.
Police were called and drug and alcohol tests on Anderson proved negative. He pleaded guilty at Inverness Sheriff Court to careless driving when an unknown and unforeseen event caused him to lose control, failing to slow down and repeatedly overcorrect the direction of his car.
Defending, John MacColl said: "He is very upset that these individuals were injured. He has a clean driving licence and has been incident free for 36 years. He lost control with no warning and does not know the cause."
Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald fined Anderson £760 and endorsed his licence with eight penalty points.
