GAELIC writer and Inverness Courier columnist Roddy Maclean will launch his newly-published political novel, at Inverness Town House tomorrow.

Còig Duilleagan na Seamraig – The Five Leaves of the Shamrock – is set against the political and social upheavals in Britain a century ago with the action moving between the Highlands, Ireland, London and Paris.

It traces the major events in the life of Donald Mackenzie, of Gairloch, who becomes a personal bodyguard and secret political ambassador to David Lloyd George, the most powerful politician of the day.

The novel is of a type which is rare in Scottish Gaelic.

Tomorrow’s launch at the Town House – which features in the book – is at 1pm and all are welcome. Inverness Provost Helen Carmichael will speak at the event.
