Police name driver who died in crash on Inverness to Beauly road
Police have named a driver who died following a one-vehicle crash on the Inverness to Beauly road as local man Paul Peacock.
The 60-year-old, of Kiltarlity, was the sole occupant of a silver Volkswagen Golf which left the A862 near Lentran yesterday afternoon.
The crash happened five miles west of Inverness at around 1.30pm.
Firefighters were called to the scene to cut Mr Peacock free after the car ended up on its roof. He was taken to Raigmore Hospital by ambulance but died later.
Road Policing Sergeant Angus Murray said: "Our thoughts at this time are with the man's family and friends.
"An investigation into the collision is under way and we have already spoken to a number of witnesses.
"In order to help establish the cause of the collision, I would urge anyone who believes they may have seen the vehicle on the day of the collision to come forward if you haven't already done so.
"Likewise if any motorists believe they may have dashcam footage which could assist our enquiries, I would ask for them to come forward.
"Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1668 of April 2, 2019."
Apart from a brief re-opening, the road remained closed to traffic for about seven hours yesterday as police officers carried out investigations.
