A local musician is using his talents to fundraise for the Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.

John O’Brien (59) has been working on his artistic abilities as he has been learning to dance since January as part of Strictly Inverness, which is aid of the local charities.

As a performer, John has been using the opportunity to boost his fundraising efforts.

He is set to play piano at Mangrove restaurant on Saturday evening (April 26) between 6pm and 8pm and will have a collection bucket for anyone who wishes to donate towards his efforts.

The construction manager is following in the footsteps of his children who have previously competed in the competition.

John said: “My oldest two children were very successful in this in 2022 and 2023 and their mother in 2013, and they have all been pressing me to do it since then.

“They got their dancing skills from their grandmother, who was a great dancer at family parties and she passed away in October 2024. This is my wee tribute to her, a woman that I owed a lot to.”
