Man dies after falling from bridge and being struck by lorry on A9 in Inverness

A man has died after falling from the Golden Bridge above the A9 in Inverness and being struck by a lorry.

Police are investigating the incident but stressed that it is not being treated as suspicious.

The man, an 18-year-old who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene following the fall on Thursday morning. His family have been informed.

The lorry driver, a male, was not injured in the incident.

The road and bridge were closed for several hours to allow officers to carry out their investigation.

Chief Inspector Richard Ross said: "We are continuing to piece together exactly what has happened and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, who has not spoken to us, to get in touch.

“If anyone has any dash cam footage, we would ask that you pass it on as it could assist us in our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting ‘incident number 0482 of September 12’.
