Police have arrested a man after an incident in the River Ness.
Police have arrested a man after an incident in the River Ness.

A man has been arrested and detained in custody for further inquiries after being taken out of the River Ness.

The incident happened just after midnight today near the Greig Street Bridge in Inverness. Emergency services attending the scene included the Inverness Coastguard team and Kessock Inshore Lifeboat although they were not needed.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed police officers had also gone to the scene and found the man was in shallow water.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital and later arrested.
