A MAN has been detained by police after he was spotted standing on the roof of a stairwell on the top of the Rose Street multi-storey car park in Inverness.

It is understood he was threatening to jump.

Officers were called to the scene shortly before 7pm yesterday (9th September) after a concerned member of the public spotted the man, who is thought to be in his early 20s.

Railway Terrace, Rose Street and Longman Road were closed during the incident but were reopened by 10pm following the man's detention.

"We can confirm that a male has been detained following an earlier incident," said a police spokesman. "We wish to thank the public for their patience during this incident."
