A 37-year-old Culloden man appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on a charge of assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Alan Galagher was represented by solicitor John MacColl, who successfully applied for bail on his client's behalf after he made no plea to the offence and was committed for further examination.
It was alleged that Galagher had repeatedly punched a man in Bank Lane, Inverness on December 5 last year and bit him on the nose.
