A man was found in possession of cocaine after being stopped by police on other matters.

Gheorge Mois (33) was caught in the city’s Kessock Road on April 8 by officers on patrol in the area.

Fiscal depute Shay Trainor told Sheriff David Harvie at Inverness Sheriff Court: “The accused came to the attention of police due to another matter and they formed an opinion that the accused was in possession of drugs.

“They carried out a search of the car whereby nine bags of white powder were found in a hidden compartment beside the driver’s seat.

“It was tested to be 11g of coke, worth £1100 in deals.

“He was arrested, caution and charged.”

Mois, who appeared on a video link from custody, pleaded guilty to being in possession of the class A drug with intent to supply.

Sheriff Harvie deferred sentence until May 29 for background reports.

Mois remains in custody.
