Police Scotland say body of man has been recovered from River Beauly near Kilmorack power station and dam

The body of a man has been hauled from a Highland river by specialist police divers.

The unnamed victim was recovered from the River Beauly, not far from Kilmorack power station and dam, early on Monday afternoon.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances and have not provided further details on the tragedy.

A member of the public who was walking his dog in the area alerted Highland News and Media to the incident and provided pictures of the police presence from across the water.

The witness said: “I was out for a walk with the dog at the Black Bridge at Kilmorack dam.

“All hell suddenly broke loose with sirens and blue lights. When I came back there were about eight police search vehicles in the area across the water.

“I think they pulled somebody out of the river and there was also a parked car there that they were searching.

“Another dog walker told me they had seen the body being removed from the water and it looked as if they had a table with a screen around it set up.”

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed: “Around 12.20pm on Monday, 31 March 2025, the body of a man was recovered from the River Beauly near to Black Bridge, Beauly.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
