Inverness plain-clothed police officer spat at by assault victim
A man has been fined after spitting at a plain-clothed police officer.
Logan Macleod (23) had been the victim of an assault himself outside the former Revolution bar in Church Street, Inverness when the police officer stepped in to help.
CCTV footage of the incident was played to Sheriff Sara Matheson at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Macleod, of North Gyle Grove, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to assault.
Sheriff Matheson fined him a total of £290.
Macleod’s defence solicitor, John McColl, said: “Mr Macleod was the victim of an assault by a number of people. His girlfriend and another woman had to lie on top of him to protect him from the attackers.
“Security workers from Revolution and two plain clothed police officers came over to help when Mr Macleod was on the ground.
“He did not realise it was police and complied fully with officers in uniform.”
