A late-night brawl at a bus station resulted in a 21-year-old Inverness man pulling a knife with a 20cm blade and swiping at his opponent.

But it ended bizarrely when the pair shook hands and left the scene.

Inverness Sheriff Court watched CCTV footage of the incident which started about 11.30pm on June 9 last year in Farraline Park when 20-year-old Jordan Cumming picked up a waste bin and threw it in the direction of Mateusz Dymarksi, of Laurel Avenue, Inverness.

There was a struggle with former Inverness man Cumming, now of Aitken Street, Glasgow, during which punches and kicks were delivered before they walked away towards Rose Street.

The fight resumed and both men were pushing and shoving before Dymarksi pulled out the weapon from his waistband and brandished it, swinging it towards Cumming but not making contact before it dropped to the ground.

They could then be seen walking away with Dymarski's friend, 18-year-old Jordan Burns, of Holm Avenue, Inverness towards Rose Street.

Fiscal depute Susan Love told Sheriff Robert Frazer: "The knife was dropped and Burns picked it up and threw it away. The fight continued but then ended with the two shaking hands and walking away.

"Police were alerted by the camera operator and attended to arrest them all shortly afterwards. When Burns was searched, he had a knife in his possession but it was not the one he picked up."

Burns admitted illegal possession of a knife, Dymarksi pleaded guilty to a similar charge and one of threatening behaviour. Cummings also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour.

Sentence was deferred until August 15 for a background report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.

But Sheriff Frazer warned the trio: "All options are open to the court."
