80 jobs at new McDonald's - offering table service and dual-lane drive-thru
A NEW drive-through fast food restaurant is set to open its doors to the people of Inverness next week.
McDonald’s already has a premises on the High Street however a newer much larger restaurant will soon be available at the Inshes Retail Park.
80 jobs will be created as a result of the build with the restaurant set to open on Wednesday.
The two-storey building already looks ready to go, with the famous golden arch set in place.
The new restaurant will create 40 full-time and 40 part-time jobs, with 20 members of staff expected to move over from the High Street restaurant.
Local franchisee Craig Duncan has been incredibly busy over the last six months purchasing another five McDonald’s in the Highland and Aberdeen area. This means that he now owns eight of the fast food restaurants.
However his latest purchase will provide many services which other McDonald’s restaurants have yet to offer.
The modern and up-to-date McDonald’s will provide a dual-lane drive-through option which will help alleviate any traffic build-up and quicken up the experience for the customer.
The restaurant will also provide table service, will seat 166 people and will have self-service kiosks both upstairs and downstairs.
Mr Duncan is sure that it will prove to be a success when it eventually opens next week.
He said: “It’s certainly getting there, we should have no problems opening as we are definitely on track.
“The dual-lane drive-through can serve two cars at one time. That means that if there is a family who are going to be spending £25 on meals and the car behind is only wanting a coffee they can drive on ahead and avoid waiting 20 minutes.”
The new McDonald’s will act as a neighbour to discount chain B&M Bargains.
A number of jobs were advertised on the B&M Bargains website earlier this month looking for roles to be filled for a store at the Inshes Retail Park.
The roles range from floor manager to garden centre manager to a number of sales assistants.
It is understood that it will move out of its existing premises in the Telford Retail Park to relocate to the Inshes area of town.
