A couple from Inverness are delighted after a picture of them against glow of the Northern Lights on their wedding day became an international and online viral success.

Rebecca Macdonald (28) and Chris Oram (26) were on the dance floor when their wedding photographer Michael Carver rushed them outside in the cold to capture a "once in a life time photo".

The couple frantically ran out of the venue, at Bogbain, to be photographed beneath the colourful glow that was the Northern Lights. Immediately, Rebecca and Chris were 'barked orders' in the cold to "stay still" in order for Michael to capture the snap as they both scrambled up onto a rock. Floods of wedding guests poured outside to see the spectacular view.

Chris said: "It was an unexpected, yet spectacular moment as if fairies had danced across the sky.

"The stars were aligned perfectly for us that night and the Aurora was spread in that moment."

Rebecca said: "It's been a worldly experience and so unexpected. To think it's reached America is incredible and hopefully it will reach Japan next!"

The photograph has been a huge success across various social media platforms, reaching thousands of likes and comments praising the incredible shot. After receiving such phenomenal feedback from the image, Michael said: "The image is a memorable one for me and hopefully the couple as well, it was a case of being at the right place at the right time and knowing it might not happen again makes it really special."

He continued: "It's now one of my favourite photos and is certainly the most attention I have ever received for any photo I have taken. It was one of the best shows I have seen in a few years, definitely a bucket list item."

The newly weds are now off on a mini-moon to continue the celebrations down south as they plan a weekend of relaxation at a spa.
