Merkinch Primary School has received a donation from the Port of Inverness towards their primary 7 outdoor adventure trip in 2026.

The school received £3,000 from the community fund which was set up last year to contribute towards small youth projects that improve the health and wellbeing of young people living in the local area.

Sinclair Browne, chief executive of Port of Inverness, said: “One of our main objectives as a Trust Port is to be good neighbours and supportive members of our local community. We’re delighted to be able to help Merkinch Primary School fund next year’s trip and allow as many young people as possible to attend.”

Jillian Kean, headteacher of Merkinch Primary School, said: “Each year we work hard to remove as many barriers as possible to allow our P7 children to attend a residential experience with The Outward Bound trust.

“This builds our children’s resilience and widens their life experiences. Children and families talk about the benefits for many years after the trip and we really appreciate the support from Port of Inverness.”
