More than £17,000 was raised for a worthy cause at a charity auction in Inverness
Blythswood Care’s first in-person event since the pandemic attracted 120 people and generated £17,771 at the Drumossie Hotel.
More than 300 items were for sale in the auction – including holiday home rentals, golf rounds and car services – in exchange for donations.
The highest selling item was an original Jolomo painting, which sold for £3100.
Profits from the event will go towards Blythswood’s Talita Kum. Fundraising manager Elma MacKay explained it would help fund an after-school programme in Romania supporting young people who are affected by poverty, rejection and isolation.
“The project will be extended to include 15 to 19-year-olds, supporting young people to stay in education for longer, avoiding early marriage, and providing them with life skills to enable them to live independently,” she added.
“It was so encouraging to see people come out and support Blythswood and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”
The evening was enjoyed by all and sets hopes high for future gatherings.
