Motorist caused an Inverness cyclist to fly over their handlebars and fracture their elbow
A motorist caused an Inverness cyclist to fly over their handlebars and fracture their elbow.
Andrew Pearson (45) was driving along the city’s Drummond Road at around 4.15pm on August 12 last year when he encountered the cyclist.
Fiscal depute Sophie Marshall told Sheriff Gary Aitken at Inverness Sheriff Court: “A witness was cycling southbound along Drummond Road, when he saw another cyclist coming northbound.
“He then saw a silver Skoda vehicle directly in front.
“The other witness made an attempt to avoid, however crashed on the right hand side and went over the handlebars onto the road.
“An ambulance was taken to A&E where it was confirmed he had a fractured left elbow.”

Pearson, of Pendle Crescent, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to driving without due care or attention and causing serious injury.
Sheriff Aitken fined him a total of £520, endorsed his licence and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
Pearson’s defence solicitor Graham Mann, said: “He had looked both ways but had just not seem them.
“He accepts he was entirely wrong and it could have been far worse.
“He could not be in a worse position as he is a delivery driver and is the breadwinner in the home.”
