Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey MP Drew Hendry shares message of support and thanks for Highland residents and businesses during coronavirus pandemic
Drew Hendry has shared a message of support for his constituents ahead of the Easter weekend.
The MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey posted his message on Twitter this afternoon.
In it he states that, as reports of people visiting Highland holiday homes and second homes in local communities continue to come in, he shared residents' frustration and disgust at such selfish behaviour during the Covid-19 outbreak.
He promised to answer anyone who had been in touch raising such concerns as soon as possible.
He added: "As I was reminded yesterday, it is important to also recognise that the large majority of our local small independent self catering businesses did close their doors weeks ago, many even before they were asked to do so.
"They took decisive action early on – to protect lives and our NHS – action which has now left many of them without financial support. If this is your business, thank you for helping protect your local community."
The MP said he, as well as his fellow Highland SNP colleagues Kate Forbes and Fergus Ewing, understood the issues faced by many during these difficult times and promised they were doing all they could to make sure people got the right support.
