Much-loved miniature Inverness railway hit by vandals

The bridge at Ness Islands Railway in Inverness has been targeted by vandals – prompting an appeal for a joiner.

It is also forcing the miniature railway line – used by thousands of tourists and locals every year – to close unexpectedly.

A posted on its Facebook page stated: "Very sadly the bridge at Ness Islands Railway has been vandalised such that we can’t open tomorrow.

"We will be working to re-route the track away from the bridge while repairs are undertaken.

"If you are a joiner with tools and materials and want to help, please message us."

Highland Hospice took over operating the Ness Islands Railway in April.

It followed the death of the railway's creator Ian Young, who operated it for more than 35 years.
