The 253 currently serves Nairn, Piperhill, Cawdor, Croy and Culloden Battlefield.

Chairman of the council’s economy and infrastructure committee, Councillor Ken Gowans, said: "One of the key benefits of having our In-house service is we have the ability to be flexible so we can provide services to meet the needs of local communities.

“This is a real-time example of this working on the ground, and I am sure having a regular service will prove popular and bring benefits to even more people.”

A bright red double decker bus serve the route. It will operate a hail and ride pickup and will travel through the village towards Inverness city centre at 10.08am Monday to Thursday and do the return journey from Falcon Square in Inverness at 1.50pm on the same days.
