Nairn Golf Club retains spot in top courses in UK and Ireland in latest rankings
A Nairn golf club retained its position in the UK’s top courses, according to two golfing publications.
The Championship course at Nairn Golf Club has been recognised in the rankings of the Top 100 Golf Courses Great Britain and Ireland. — where it ranked 54th — while Golf Monthly put the famous venue on the Moray Firth coastline in 38th place.
Although this is a slight move downwards in the latter for the club (which was ranked 35 in 2022/23 and 37 in 2022/23) it still marks a strong position in the country.
Paul Mills, General Manager at Nairn Golf Club said: “Everyone at the club and in our local community are extremely proud that our course is consistently ranked in various Top 100 lists compiled around the world.
“They're a testament to the care and pride of our membership, and the hard work of our staff. The recognition demonstrates the improvements we continue to make to ensure a world class golfing experience at Nairn.”
This comes after significant investment in the course over the past years. In 2019, the club spent over a million pounds on renovating the Championship course.
Since then, it has invested in its course maintenance team, their facilities and equipment — as well as a recent upgrade with a new clubhouse on the edge of the Moray Firth.
Next month, the course is also set to host the 122nd Women’s Amateur Championship, the second time for the club as the competition was first held here in 1979.
It is hoped that the event will bring a major boost to golf in the Highlands.
