Cannabis plants worth up to £250,000 were recovered in Cumbernauld with two men due to appear in court in connection with the find.

Police raided properties on Millcroft Road in the North Lanarkshire town at about 10.45pm on Tuesday.

A cannabis cultivation of 65 plants with an estimated street value of between £200,000 and £250,000 was discovered, along with a six-figure sum of cash.

Two men, aged 50 and 55, were arrested and charged, and are due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court in due course.

Inspector Barry Maguire, of Police Scotland, said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and Police Scotland is committed to bringing those responsible for the supply and sale of illegal substances to justice.

“This result underscores our commitment to the serious and organised crime taskforce and highlights our efforts to disrupt the activities of those involved.

“The public has a vital part in helping us to target and trace those involved and we encourage anyone with information or concerns to contact us via 101, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
