Man charged after drugs worth £150,000 seized

Police said inquiries are ongoing following the drug seizure in Wishaw (PA)

A man has been charged after drugs worth £150,000 were recovered from a property in North Lanarkshire.

Police executed a warrant to search an address in Hawick Street, Wishaw, on Wednesday.

Quantities of drugs, including cocaine and benzocaine, with a street value of around £150,000 were seized.

The 28-year-old will face Hamilton Sheriff Court in due course and police inquiries into the discovery are ongoing.

Detective Superintendent Steven Elliot said: “Illegal drugs cause such suffering to families and communities and we remain determined to dismantling drugs networks.

“Anyone with information or concerns about drugs should contact Police Scotland on 101, or make a call to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
