Pair hunted after man attacked on footpath

Police are looking for two men following a serious assault that left a 36-year-old in need of hospital treatment.

The attack took place at about 12.55pm on Wednesday January 22 on the footpath near Main Street in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire.

Police said the male victim had been walking on the footpath when he was approached by the two men and then attacked.

He attended hospital for medical treatment following the assault, and was later released.

Police described the suspects as being aged in their late 20s to early 30s, and one was holding a white carrier bag.

Detective Constable Ross Kirkland said: “Since this assault was reported to police on Wednesday January 22, we have been carrying out inquiries to establish more detail and establish the full circumstances.

“This has included reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the area.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the Main Street area around the time of the attack who has any information to please contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dashcam or private CCTV footage which may assist to get in touch.”
