Police name motorcyclist killed in collision with lorry

Police have named a motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with a lorry in Dumfries and Galloway.

The incident involving a white Volvo lorry and a silver Honda VRF motorbike happened on the B7076 near the junction to Newton Wamphray, Moffat, at around 4.25pm on Wednesday March 19.

The biker, Iain Macrory, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been made aware.

The driver of the lorry did not require medical treatment.

Sergeant Lloyd Caven said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Iain Macrory at this difficult time.

“Our inquiries are ongoing and I would again appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.

“If you have dashcam equipment, please check it for any footage which could assist our ongoing investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2499 of March 19.
