Residents across Glasgow have been left with no running water after a water main burst on Saturday.

Scottish Water said it is investigating the issue affecting customers in G5, G41, G42, G43 and G44 postcodes.

Photos and videos on social media show streets in the south side of Glasgow flooded.

Glasgow City Council confirmed road closures are in place along Eglinton Street in both directions between Turriff Street and Gourock Street.

“The road will remain closed until further notice,” the local authority said.

Scottish Water said it is carrying out emergency repairs to solve the issue.

A spokesperson said: “Teams on site are investigating but we know customers in the G41, G42, G43 and G44 areas have been impacted.

“We are working as quickly as we can to bring the majority of residents back into supply as soon as possible and we will be in touch directly with priority service customers.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this burst and thank affected customers for their patience and understanding while these emergency repairs are under way.”

The company said those who see discoloured water after supplies are restored should run the cold water tap in their kitchen until the water runs clear.

People affected by flooding are urged to contact Scottish Water’s customer services helpline for support on 0800 0778 778.
