Teenager dies after jet ski hits pier

A teenager has died after jet ski crashed into a pier.

Police were called to the scene at Gremista on Shetland at around 4pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended but the 18-year-old man was declared dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Scotland Chief Inspector Chris Sewell said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“The Marine Accident Investigation Branch has been notified.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.”
