Woman arrested over death of pensioner in crash

A 22-year-old woman has been arrested in relation to a collision which resulted in the death of an 87-year-old, police have said.

Officers were called to St John’s Road in Edinburgh at 5.45pm on December 30 after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a black Ford Fiesta.

The 87-year-old woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but died on January 3.

Police announced on Sunday that a woman had been arrested in connection with the incident.

She was released pending further inquiries.
