Inverness housing development in Slackbuie by Highland Housing Alliance (HHA) sees completion of 24 new mid-market rental homes

A new housing development in Inverness has now been completed, it has been announced.

Highland Housing Alliance (HHA) said it has officially completed its latest residential development at Slackbuie View, with 24 mid-market rental (MMR) homes in Slackbuie.

Constructed by Capstone Construction Ltd, the development includes 18 two-bedroom cottage flats, four three-bedroom semi-detached homes, and two four-bedroom semi-detached houses.

HHA said they hope this will help alleviate the pressured rental market in the Highland capital.

Gail Matheson, chief executive at HHA, said: “It’s fantastic to see Slackbuie View now complete, providing new mid-market rental homes in Inverness that importantly will be suitable for a variety of household needs.

“This development brings high-quality homes to an area of Scotland where housing challenges are prevalent. We’re committed to increasing the availability of fairly priced homes, and Slackbuie View is an excellent example of how collaboration between a local project team can deliver real benefits to the community.”

The deadline for anyone interested in the development to apply for one of the new rentals closed in January this year.

As part of the project’s developer contribution, HHA has provided over £180,000 to support local primary and secondary schools and community facilities.

MMR rates are typically positioned between private rental costs and affordable housing.

The wider project team includes Helica Project Management, engineering firm Fairhurst, quantity surveyor WSD Scotland, and architects Bracewell Stirling.

Funding support has been provided by the Scottish Government, The Highland Council, and the Inverness and Highland City Region Deal.

Inverness-based Capstone Construction, which has worked closely with HHA on several projects, led the construction of the new homes.

Managing director Rhona Donnelly said: “We’re proud to have delivered this development in partnership with HHA, helping to expand mid-market rental opportunities in Inverness.

“Slackbuie View is ideally located and provides high-quality, well-designed homes that will support the needs of residents for years to come. We look forward to continuing our work with HHA to address housing demand across the Highlands.”
