Duo to launch acoustic music club in Wee Bar in Inverness
A renowned singing duo are starting a new club in Inverness to showcase local and emerging talent and established musicians from around the world.
Brian Ó hEadhra and Fionnag NicChoinnich are working in partnership with The Wee Bar in Ness Walk to launch the Inverness Acoustic Music Club.
It aims to celebrate the best of local, national and international quality singers and musicians from the traditional, folk and world music genres.
The club hopes to bring people together to enjoy the beauty of acoustic music in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The inaugural event, on Wednesday March 1 at 7.30pm, will feature Brian and Fionnag while guest floor spots are also available.
The duo perform songs from the Gaelic, Scots and Irish traditions as well as newly-composed material drawing inspiration from music and cultures primarily from the North Atlantic fringe.
Brian, who originates from Dublin, and Fionnag, who is from the Isle of Lewis, have performed across the world and recorded on many albums with acts such as Anam, Cruinn and Mackenzie, as well as performing on various projects including international films and game soundtracks.
They released their third album Càirdeas in 2021.
Fionnag received the Gaelic Singer of the Year award at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Awards 2020 while Brian was nominated for the same award in 2019.
Awards glory for top trad musicians
The Wee Bar, located above Prime restaurant, has a limited capacity of 30 people. Booking tickets in advance via Eventbrite is advised.
