A new cattery could open south of Inverness after plans were submitted to Highland Council.

Applicant Michael Murray is seeking permission to erect a purpose-built cattery building on land at Tigh na Coillie in Daviot.

If approved, the facility would be capable for accommodating up to 18 cats at a time.

In a supporting statement lodged alongside the application, the design agents WA MacDonald Building Design, said: “We propose to erect a building to accommodate 18 cats. It is anticipated that the cattery will operate five days per week – not Sunday and Monday or Wednesday.

“Appointments will be strictly timed so that 18 guests/owners do not arrive together. In any case, turnover days spread the load over the week with some cats staying a full week or two.

“It is not anticipated that the proposal will affect neighbours in any direction.”

A garage located next to the site of the new cattery would also be partially converted as part of the application. Two new car parking spaces would also be created.

Drawings submitted with the application show the cattery pens as being a single-storey structure, with angled roof.

The application describes the proposed building as being "standard cattery pens with storm shutters".

They add: "Materials will be PVCu framework, toughened safety glass, insulated panel, PawSafe Mesh, and a solid insulated roof."
