Cawdor Deli’s owner announces change at helm for Nairnshire shop
A village shop and deli in Cawdor is set for a change at the helm as it’s handed over to new owners.
Nyomi Dixon, founder of Whisk Cafe in Inverness and who took over the then Cawdor Village Store in late 2023, announced she was stepping down from her role after having her first daughter earlier this year.
The business — which was renamed Cawdor Deli and had gone on the market at the start of 2025— is now looking for a new start under new ownership.
In a post on Facebook, Ms Dixon wrote: “Today is a special date for so many reasons. Just five years after starting Whisk and nearly four years from opening the cafe, and having this picture taken, it is time to hang up my apron.
“It was a year ago to the day when I also started a very special journey that resulted in Nya being born. It's made me realise this baby needs me a lot more than my first business baby, and I want to enjoy being a mummy. Everyone said my life would change but I never understood how much something so small could do that until she arrived.
“In the next few weeks, Cawdor Deli will change hands, allowing me to close the door on business life. I am excited to see what they have in store for the Deli.
“I am so proud and thankful for how far the business and I have come in this five years. It has definitely had its challenges, but it has had so many more positive outcomes and happy memories. I have met some incredible people, team members, and customers, I now call friends and enjoy coffee in other cafes, which I will continue. “
In the announcement, she expressed her gratitude to her “right hand woman” Iwona who helped her run both the Whisk and Cawdor venues, as well as her own mum.
She concluded: “I want to thank every single person who has made my dream a reality, but I have new dreams with a tiny human to embark on. But for now, she has a few shifts to join me on, and I hope you all pop in to see us before we say our final goodbyes.”
