New post office opens in Inverness
A new post office has opened in an Inverness neighbourhood after the area was identified as needing the service.
It is located in SPAR at Drummond Stores in Culduthel Road.
It replaces a mobile van service which previously operated in Tomatin Road every Wednesday morning for two hours.
The new service is available seven days a week from 7am to 9pm – a total of 98 hours a week.
Services at the new branch range from posting letters and parcels to collecting and returning online shopping items plus banking services.
In May, it was revealed that Merkinch post office in Grant Street was the only full-time post office remaining in the west side of the city.
The new branch in Culduthel Road joins branches in Crown, Drumblair and Inshes in bringing post office services to the area.
It is one of the local-style branches with a low-screened, open- plan Post Office service point integrated into the retail counter.
David Duff, Post Office change manager, said: "We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best.
"We know how important our services are to customers, and we are confident that this brand-new Post Office alongside the other branches in the area at Crown, Drumblair and Inshes will ensure that people in this area of Inverness have easy access to our services."
