The Range's new DIY store set to open one week earlier than expected at former Homebase site in Inverness

THE vacant former Homebase superstore in Inverness will reopen one week earlier than expected.

Home, leisure and gardens retailer The Range will create up to 80 full and part-time jobs at the Inverness Shopping Park premises.

It was scheduled to open on July 12, but this has been changed to July 5.

The Range, is set to offer products across 16 departments including arts and crafts, home interiors and DIY.

A family café and outdoor garden centre also form part of the planned development.

A spokesman for The Range said: "This is expected to be a fantastic boost to the local economy and is sure to be a positive addition to the area.

"The development works to transform the former Homebase site into a Range superstore are well under way in preparation for the grand opening at the beginning of July.

"We’re really pleased that we can open the Inverness store ahead of when we had originally planned.

"The new earlier opening date means the local community will have to wait less time to explore their brand new superstore."

The Homebase outlet was one of 42 closed across the country by owners last year when they entered into a company voluntary agreement (CVA).

The move was believed to have resulted in the loss of around 50 jobs locally.
