A82 roadworks near Loch Ness to involve overnight road closures in February
Motorists are being warned of overnight closures of the A82 near Loch Ness to enable essential roadworks.
The work, set to begin on Sunday February 2, will see a section of the trunk road north of Drumnadrochit resurfaced over seven nights.
The work, being carried out by BEAR Scotland, will take place between 8pm and 6am from the evening of February 2 until the morning of Tuesday February 11.
• A82 boulder removal to close busy Highland trunk road
• Essential road surfacing work to begin on A82 near Loch Ness
Due to the nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the road with amnesties in place to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the public.
The amnesties take place at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 2am and 4am.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Emergency services will be able to pass through the works at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, urged motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.
“These maintenance works on the A82 North of Drumnadrochit will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.” he said.
“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project.”
