The police look set to add a furry cute new addition to their Highland force - their first ever Giant Schnauzer pup!

Hondo is currently in training to be a general patrol dog (GPD) and, all going well, he could be plying his trade in Inverness once that is complete.

In the meantime, the local force has promised to keep people abreast of all the latest “pupdates” as Hondo’s training progresses.

“We're very excited to introduce Hondo, our first ever Giant Schnauzer,” said a police spokesperson. “Hondo is in training to be a General Patrol Dog (GPD) in Inverness.

“He comes from great working lines, and has relatives that are already GPDs with Devon & Cornwall Police where they have found vulnerable people and caught violent suspects.

“Giant Schnauzers are an athletic breed with great noses and we hope that Hondo follows in his relatives paw prints!

“We'd like to thank Ceara at Lordstone Kennels for this amazing and confident pup. We'll keep you all informed with further "Pupdates" as he progresses through his training.”
