Inverness pharmacy delighted with award win after difficult months

A city pharmacy that is still in the midst of repairs after an accident destroyed much of the shop front has been sharing some happier news.

Lochardil Pharmacy has been named community pharmacy of the year at the Scottish Pharmacist Awards.

Staff and patients at the pharmacy and travel centre in the city’s Morven Place were fortunate to escape injury when a black Nissan smashed into the entrance of the building on January 22.

Staff said at the time that they would continue to serve the public as best they could under “challenging circumstances”.

Having revealed news of the award nomination last month the team has now been celebrating after officially clinching the title.

“We are incredibly proud of our amazing team and so grateful for this recognition,” they said in a social media post.

“It’s been a challenging year — but also one full of achievements, growth and perseverance.

“Over the past year 2e dispensed and supplied more prescriptions than ever before; upported even more patients through our travel health clinics, common clinical conditions service and new weight management programme; trained and celebrated more staff as they achieved new qualifications; and even cheered alongside them as they welcomed new babies, got engaged and passed their driving tests!”

Providing an update on the repairs programme they added: “Work is still ongoing to repair the pharmacy and we are very much looking forward to returning to full capacity soon with upgraded facilities.

“Our incredible team has worked so hard to keep us open and serving the local community the best we can, even during tough times.

“And as a little silver lining — this shiny new trophy will replace the two that were sadly broken in the accident!

“Thank you to all our customers and patients for your continued support — it truly means the world to us.

“We can’t wait to see what’s next and to get back to some much-needed normality (with maybe a few more celebrations along the way!)

“Here’s to brighter days ahead and a huge well done to Team Lochardil!”
