PICTURES: A82 closed in Inverness city centre after major Police Scotland response to ‘disturbance’
The A82 was closed in the heart of Inverness on Thursday afternoon after a major police response to a "disturbance" in a nearby street.
A section of Kenneth Street shortly before the Telford Street roundabout was closed and motorists were being diverted elsewhere after police responded to an incident in nearby Muirtown Street at 11.50am.
A heavy police presence was seen at the site, with at least six police cars and several officers seen to be present in Kenneth Street alone a short time ago.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had also sent three appliances to the site. These could be seen parked up in Muirtown Street at the time of writing, with a number of personnel spotted nearby.

In an earlier update, officers had posted online that the Scottish Ambulance Service were also in attendance, and at least one ambulance has been seen in the immediate area.
