"Cute doesn't even cover it" says Ness Factor host of Barbie Disco Night in aid of Highland Hospice, which raised over £400 for the vital Highland charity.

The event raised £350.53 from cash donations, table money, coffee and cakes sales, and also scooped £55 in raffle sales over the just giving page

While Kayleigh says that not a lot of people showed up to the event, her friends and family all came along to show their support, and all the children still had lots of fun.

Kayleigh Burnside said: "The Barbie event was lots of fun, not a lot of people turned up but my friends and family that are there for me every day did with their kids so it was like a wee party to ourselves, even the photographer looked like he was having a blast (massive thank you to him for the enthusiasm).

The hall let me have the space for free and could do so because of funds raised at the tent they had at belladrum, maybe encourage more to them next year in hopes they can continue doing things like this. I raised £350.53 in cash donations/table money/coffee and cakes sales and then £55 in raffle sales on the just giving page.

Best part was seeing the kids up doing karaoke, cute doesn't even cover it, and my little Leo just stole the stage!"

The Barbie Karaoke and Disco Night in Kiltarlity Hall was hosted by fellow Ness Factor contestant Liam Christie.

The day also featured a Mummy Market earlier in the day, with the opportunity to buy and sell pre-loved baby and children's clothes, which is more sustainable and cheaper for parents.

Kayleigh (27), who is from Kiltarlity and a mum of two, explained why she entered the Ness Factor: "Music is my life and I love the idea of sharing that with others. Several members of my extended family have received care from Highland Hospice, and I would love to pay it back.

"There’s such a great family feel among the contestants which is great, I won’t mind if I lose to Liam – he’s a joy to be around!

"Katy Louise, my singing coach, has been the best thing for me since sliced bread. I was singing low country songs when I first met her, and she’s helped me discover that I am a soprano. I was just not singing as I should be, and was filled with anxiety. It’s been a complete 180 in my singing journey and Katy Louise has filled me with self belief. I might even be including a little tap dance, we'll see!"

This year the winner receives a coveted place to perform at Belladrum Tartan Festival 2024.
