Inverness city centre marks Easter weekend with Great Egg Hunt and fun activities
Inverness city centre was taken over by hundreds of egg hunters to mark the start of Easter Weekend.
Organised by Inverness City Centre BID and Eastgate Shopping Centre, the Great Easter Egg Hunt saw families scouring the Highland Capital’s streets and shop windows and enjoying some fun entertainment in the sun.
The event — which will run also tomorrow (April 19) — featured face painting, street entertainment, glitter tattoos and other Easter activities, with many prizewinners taking home the goodies.
Margaret Laws, deputy manager for Inverness City Centre BID, said that the two registration points were both very busy throughout the day, with hundreds of entries.
“It was really a positive day,” she said.
“We saw so many families taking part, both regulars and many new participants, which is always great. It’s always a popular event, many mark it on their calendars and we have people coming from England specifically to take part.
“The weather was chilly at times but it was a great day to be out chasing eggs.”
With the eggs being placed in the shop’s windows, she said the hunt is a great opportunity to showcase city centre business.
“It’s great to see comments from people taking part, who say they discovered some of the shops, saying ‘oh, I didn’t realise that business was there’.
“Ultimately, that’s why we are here — to let people know more about the wonderfull businesses we have in the city.”
A giant bunny installation was also out for the occasion inside the shopping centre for many to snap a selfie.
The Moray Mad Hatters were also out on the streets to brighten up the day with colourful outfits.
