The first step in a programme of gym improvements planned across the Highlands, area leisure manager Kevin Thomson said: “We can’t wait to welcome people back to the newly refurbished gym with the latest state-of-the-art equipment providing on-demand workouts at the touch of a button.

“We’ve also got the Love to Train room focusing on functional fitness where, using wearable technology, you will be able to follow and monitor your workout progress within our new Love to Train classes.

“We’ll also have designated areas for stretching and toning as well as the latest rowers, bikes, steppers and new treadmills which replicate outdoor running.”

Technogym was official supplier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and through its app customers will be able to view their workout stats and chart their fitness progress.

Other changes include an increase in cardiovascular machines from 41 to 63; an increase in resistance equipment stations increasing from 14 to 24 and an increase in the number of weightlifting racks.
