FITkidz Academy promises festive fun at the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness

THE inspirational FITkidz Academy has opened a Christmas classroom of fun in the Eastgate Shopping Centre.

Parents and carers will be able to drop their kids off at a specially kitted-out unit where youngsters can enjoy a variety of fun activities while the grown ups get on with their shopping.

A mini-gym and yoga sessions will be on offer, along with arts and crafts and a smoothie bike, where a child-operated bike will convert healthy ingredients into a tasty drink.

The FITkidz Academy was formed a year ago by Inverness mother Amy Mullen and is open to children aged three to 12, and the emphasis is on fitness, nutrition and creativity.

Ms Mullen said: “I am super excited that FITkidz is opening in the Eastgate, and a big thank you must be given to Marks and Spencer, Les Enfants Nursery and Events, Indigo Hive and DW Fitness First Inverness for their amazing support that has enabled us to offer happy, healthy fun activities.”

The FITkidz unit, situated opposite HMV, opened earlier this week and will offer hourly drop-in activities throughout the festive season and into January.

Ms Mullen added: “Artist Pauline Burnside of Indigo Hive has created a special design for a colouring competition at our arts and crafts station which should be popular, and on Thursday during late-night shopping, the Highland Bake House will run healthy cupcake classes.

“There will be a dress-up station too, where the youngsters will be encouraged to put on their own little shows.

“It’s all going to be happy, healthy fun.”
